MailChimp is  a service that organizes and analyzes the sending of newsletters. When you enter data to receive the newsletter (e.g., email address), it is stored on the MailChimp server in the US.

MailChimp possesses a certificate according to the “EU-US-Privacy-Shield”. The “Privacy-Shield” is a convention between the EU and the US that should ensure the compliance of European data protection standards in the US.

By using MailChimp, we can analyze our newsletter campaigns. If you open an email sent by MailChimp, a file contained in the email (a so-called web beacon) connects with the MailChimp server in the US. This allows for a detection of whether a newsletter message is opened, which links are clicked on, etc. Furthermore, other technical data is collected at this point (e.g., time of access, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be attributed to the respective newsletter recipient. It is only used for the analysis of the newsletter campaign. The results of this analysis can be used to adapt future newsletter campaigns to the recipients.
